Five-month container volume via FCT up 31.4%, to 454,792 TEUs
Container throughput of the First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg) in January-May 2010 increased by 31,4% compared with the same period last year, to 454,792 TEUs, the National Container Company (FCT’s manager) statement said.
May container trade amounted to 102,720 TEUs, showing a 32.9-percent rise over May 2009. According to NCC that was the largest volume of containers, ever handled in the history of FCT and Russian container terminals.
In May FCT transshipped 49,674 TEUs for export, 52,398 TEUs of imports, and 11,941 TEUs of refcontainers. FCT processed 72 ships, the average turnover per vessel was 1,418 TEUs.

In 2009 the total volumes via NCC’s containers terminals amounted to some 1.2 million TEUs, contributing 42.1% to overall output at Russian container ports.
