May freight volume through Berdyansk port up 50.8%, to 227.600 tons
Freight traffic passing via Berdyansk Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine) in May amounted to 227.600 tons, a 50.8-percent surge from last year’ May, the Port Authority statement said.
May exports volume via the port totaled 222.500 tons, transit cargoes reached 5,000 tons. Volume of mineral and construction materials rose, as well as coke and coal, while metals showed a decline.
State-run Berdyansk Commercial Sea Port a sea transport hub of Zaporozhye region of Ukraine is one of the fastest growing ports on the Azov Sea specializing in transshipment of export-import cargoes, transit and short sea cargoes. In 2009 Berdyansk’s throughput amounted to 2,239.600 tons.
