Five-month trade flows via Baltic ports up 6% to 53m tons
Freight traffic volume passing through the ports of the Baltic countries in January-May amounted to 53.135 million tons, a 6-percent rise over the same period last year. According to the report of the Klaipeda Port Authority, the proportion of Latvian ports in total cargo turnover at the ports of the Baltic countries made up 48.1%, Estonia – 28.3%, the Lithuanian port – 23.6%.
January-May volume of trade flows via Port of Klaipeda has reportedly rose by 15.9% to 12.545 million tons. In May the port reached its highest rate of cargo volume it had handled since the beginning of this year - 2.603 million tons, 12.3% more than in May of 2009.
