Environmental agencies to discuss ecological aspects of the Big Port of St. Petersburg development
The main directions of the reconstruction and development of the Big Port of St. Petersburg will be discussed at the environmental seminar in St. Petersburg, to be held from 23 to 25 June 2010, the RosPrirodNadzor press service said. The seminar’s agenda - "Features of the organization, monitoring and control in internal waters, territorial sea and continental shelf”.
The seminar will be attended by members of the Rosprirodnadzor’s head office, its regional offices and controlling agencies, scientists, local administration officials, as well as representatives of local businesses.
Participants will discuss the most urgent environmental problems of building the fleet of Russia, enhance marine monitoring, capabilities of modern technology for lab researches, etc.
Experts in the field of maritime monitoring will make presentations on the themes: Dredging works in the waters of the Baltic Sea, taking into account the recommendations of HELCOM, The Organization and conduct of inspection and enforcement activities within the inland marine waters, Continental shelf and 500-meter coastal water protection zone of Gulf of Ob and Taz in Kara Sea, etc.
