FTS to lift price regulations for stevedoring companies at port of St. Petersburg
Russian Federal Tariff Service (FTS) has prepared and posted a draft order "On the change in the method of government regulation in respect of subjects of natural monopolies in the seaport of Big Port of St. Petersburg”. The order provides for the removal of price regulation in respect of the following stevedoring companies: JSC Commercial Center, Transport and Forest, CJSC Neva-Metall, CJSC First Stevedore Company, CJSC First Container Terminal, CJSC Third Stevedoring Company, OJSC Petrolesport, Baltic Port LLC, Setos-Service LLC, CJSC Second Stevedoring Company, CJSC Fourth Stevedoring Company, CJSC Petersburg Oil Terminal, Nevsky Gate LLC, Sea Fishing Port LLC. The Port of St. Petersburg is located on the islands of the delta of the Neva river, in the Neva Bay, the eastern tip of the Gulf of Finland. The Big Port of St. Petersburg territory includes the Neva River delta and the Neva Bay, Kronstadt and dam structures. The Port of St. Petersburg has a fleet of Icebreakers providing pilotage services for ships during winter navigation. The Port Authority says there are at least 30 stevedores currently operating in the port. According to 2009 report the port handled 50.4 million tons of commodities and 21.619 ships called at the port (10.786 inward and 10.833 outward).
