Volga Railroad posts a 8.5% gain in five-month traffic
The volume of freight traffic on the Volga Railroad (PrivZhD, a Russian Railways’ branch) in five straight months this year rose by 8.5% over the same period last year, 14.7 million tons, the Railroad’s press service said.
The main increase was reported in ferrous metals (+62.4%), iron-and-steel scrap (+36.6%), fertilizer (+26.4%), chemicals and soda (by 2.2 times), oil and petroleum products, row materials.
The Volga Railroad is comprised of Saratov, Volgograd and Astrakhan branches. Last year’s shipments totaled 32.403 million tons.
