Statoil contracts Stena rig for new mission
Statoil has signed a three-year contract with Stena Drilling for the hire of the Stena Don drilling rig; the unit will operate on the Norwegian continental shelf. The contract is worth USD 437 million. The rig was also under contract with Statoil from 2001 to December 2009.
The Stena Don and the drillship Stena Forth are currently chartered by the energy company Cairn for drilling in the Disko West area off Greenland during the summer season, June to October, this year. Up to four exploration wells will be drilled in the so far undrilled Buffin Bay Basin.
