France box ship co’s new service to call at Chennai port
CMA CGM, France’s number one and world’s number three container line, has announced a new NEMO (North Europe, Mediterranean and Oceania) service, connecting Australia directly with Europe and the Mediterranean via Suez but also covering the two ports in the Indian sub-continent, namely, Chennai and Colombo, according to company sources.
The service, to be launched from North Europe in end November with CMA CGM vessel Galilee, is to be operated in partnership with Hapag Lloyd.
In all, 12 vessels, each of 2,800 TEU capacity, will be deployed – six each by the two lines. The port rotation of the 84-day round trip will be: Tilbury – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Havre – La Spezia – Damentia – Fremantle – Melbourne SB – Sydney – Brisbane – Melbourne NB – Adelaide – Singapore – P Kelang – Chennai – Colombo – Damietta – Malta – La Spezia – Tilbury.
