Stena Nordica stops sailing on the Karlskrona-Gdynia route
Stena Line has decided to take Stena Nordica out of traffic on the route Karlskrona-Gdynia. October 19 will be the last day for the ro-pax-ferry on the route. The reasons are few passengers and increasing fuel prices.
What will happen with the vessel is yet to be decided.
– At first Stena Nordica will traffic the route Fishguard-Rosslare for a while, but after that we don’t know what to do with her, says Joakim Kenndal, Head of Corporate Communications at Stena Line, to SSG.
– During 2010 and 2011 the two other ferries on the route Karlskrona-Gdynia will be replaced with two, for the route, new vessels. There are different alternatives and which we choose depends on how the market develops.
He can’t say if f the ships are newsbuildings, bought from other companies or taken from one of Stena Line’s other routes.
– We don’t know yet, but it is still two years left.
