Dredging work to deepen Liepaja port to 12 meters starts in 2009
In early 2009, dredging work is to start in the port of Liepaja to deepen its water area to 12 meters, PortNews IAA learnt from Ivo Kolins, Head of Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Investment and Marketing Department.
As of today, maximal depth of the port is 10.5 meters. Deepening to 12 meters will enable the port to handle PANAMAX and HANDYMAX vessels. The work is to be completed in the second half of 2010.
