Napier port's $26.9m makeover ready in 2010
Work on the Port of Napier's US$26.9 million multi-purpose wharf, which will also be a back-up container berth, is well on track for completion by the first quarter of 2010, New Zealand's Daily Post reported.
It is the largest project carried out by the port during the past two decades and was required to keep pace with the demands of maintaining efficient and adaptable cargo handling.
Port chief executive officer Garth Cowie said the project was slightly ahead of schedule and, despite the large scale of the work being carried out, disruption to port operations had been minimal.
