Rhein Waal Terminal expands its capacity with 25 percent up to 45,000 m2
The Rhein Waal Terminal in Emmerich, along the Rhine just across the Dutch-German border has recently expanded its capacity with 25 percent up to 45,000 m2. In 2007 the terminal handled 65,000 TEU and in the first half of 2008 38,000 TEU, all of them barge related.
In July Konica Minolta started its operations in a new 80,000 m2 large European Distribution Center in Emmerich. It replaces centres in Genk (Belgium) and Bremen and supplies Europe and some African countries.
Emmerich is served by six weekly barge services with the port of Rotterdam and has a rail connection.
