DFDS and Polferries to start to cooperate on the ferry route
DFDS and Polferries will start to cooperate on the ferry route Swinoujscie–Ystad. From November 1 2008 DFDS will charter the ro-pax ferry Wavel, owned by the Polish company. DFDS and Polferries have entered into a management agreement, saying that the ship will remain in its current traffic and be operated by the current crew under the Polferries brand.
”DFDS has an extensive route network in the Baltic, but no routes to Poland. We are therefore delighted to enter into this collaboration agreement with an experienced Polish operator, which gives us contact with the large and important Polish transport market”, says Peder Gellert, CEO of DFDS A/S, in a comment. Wavel accommodates 1,000 passengers and has 1,490 lane metre freight capacity.
