Drydocks World bags AET tanker conversions
DrydocksWorld has bagged a contract to convert two aframaxes to tanker-to-marine capture vessels (MCV) for AET, Seatrade Asia online reports. The tanker of Malaysia’s MISC is converting the vessels as part of a recently awarded 20 year agreement with Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) to provide two MCVs for containment services in the event of a potential deepwater well control incident in the gulf of Mexico.
The vessel conversion scope includes installation of four power generators, four retractable type azimuth thrusters, one tunnel thruster, dynamic positioning system, pipe racks, structural supports for process modules and a flare tower turret, and other equipment to enable deployment as an MCV.
“We are extremely happy to sign this prestigious contract with AET, a well-known global service provider, as part of our well-articulated strategy of building our presence in the oil, gas and energy industries,” said Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World.
