150,000-tonnage waterway opens in China
The 150,000-tonnage waterway of the Port of Lianyungang began operation on December 1, 2008, SinoCast reported.
With the deepest waterway in Jiangsu Province, Lianyungang Port is also one of China's deepwater ports, contributing to the economic growth in Northern Jiangsu, even Central and Western China, as well as the country's coastal development.
The provincial government has decided to speed up its plan to build Lianyungang Port into an offshore expressway by starting the construction of a 300,000-tonnage waterway in 2009 as China is increasingly investing in infrastructure and bolstering the domestic demand.
