Throughput of Odessa port up to 31.6 mln t in Jan-Nov 08
In January-November 2008, commercial seaport of Odessa handled 31.608 million tonnes of cargo (+0.8%, against January-December 2007), the port states. In the 11-month period, the port handled 16.012 million tonnes of dry cargo and 15.270 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo.
Commenting the given event, the 1st deputy of the general manager of the SE «OCSP» Yuriy Vaskov notified that a present year could see a record throughput for the history of Odessa port.
“Efforts of administration and stevedore companies on participation of new goods traffics were completed with success: for 9 months there was a growth of cargo handling practically on all directions - dry cargoes, bulk, containers and etc. Calculations have showed that by the end of the year we step over the border of 34th million tons. But a crisis interfered....,” Mr. Vaskov said.
The highest volume of cargo turnover of the enterprise was fixed in 2002 year - 33,6 million t.
