Dmitry Medvedev orders to consider possibility of SEZ creation at Vostochny and Troitsa ports

Chairman of RF Government Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the Economic Development Ministry and the Primorsk territory Administration to consider the possibility of establishing port special economic zones at Vostochny and Troitsa, Kremlin press center informs. The order was given in followup of the meeting of the State Committee on the development of development of the Far East, the Buryat republic, the Zabaikalye territory and the Irkutsk region.

As Vladimir Miklushevsky, Governor of the Primorsk territory (Primorye) told earlier at the meeting with the Chairman of the National Policy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-Hoon, Primorye plans to apply to the Economic Development Ministry for the creation of two special economic zones.

“Troitsa and Vostochny ports are Russian gates to Asia opening transport corridors "Primorye-1" and "Primorye-2”. Free “bonded” warehouses, enterprises processing and assembling goods, container transshipment complexes are supposed to operate and develop there. SEZ will let to attract transint cargoes from China and to redirect import flows to the Far East via the ports of Primorsk territory”, Vladimir Miklushevsky is cited by the press center of the regional administration.

Creating special economic zones in the region will encourage the development of transport and logistics complex of Primorye  and will significantly expand export and import channels, using the full potential of transit corridors "Primorye-1" and "Primorye-2".

As it was reported earlier, Primorsk territory will get the biggest financing of all the regions covered by the state programme “Social and economic development of the Far East and the Baical region till 2025”. The total volume of allocations will make RUB 1.378 trillion to be spent for implementation of 88 regional projects including modernization of ports, reconstruction and construction of highways and railroads, construction of large industrial facilities, development of social infrastructure etc.

Vostochny port is the deepest Far-Eastern port of Russia.
