Ukrainian Government forecasts double increase of seaports’ container throughput by 2012
The volume of container throughput of Odessa Commercial Sea Port and Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is to double by 2012, Ukraine’s State Committee on regulatory politics and entrepreneurship reports.
The forecast covers Ukrainian ports as a whole but the ports of Odessa and Illichivsk account for 95% of container transshipment in Ukraine, Vikna Odessy reports.
On April 2, Ukrainian Government approved the procedure for registration of container cargo at check points located in seaports. The document is to simplify customs registration of containerized cargo.
In 2008, the ports of Ukraine handled over 1.2 mln TEU.
