Ukraine’s water transport companies cut transportation of foreign trade cargo by 55.7% to 1.1 mln t in Q1 09
In the first quarter of 2009, Ukraine’s water transport companies carried 1.122 million tonnes of foreign trade cargo (-55.7%, year-on-year). In March 2009, those companies transported 359,000 tonnes (-60.6%, year-on-year, and -10.25% against February, Ukrainian State Statistics Committee reports.
The volume of foreign trade cargo carried by sea transport amounted to 619,000 tonnes (-54% against Q1 08), by river transport –503,000 tonnes (-57.7%).
Transportation of coastal trade cargo fell by 61.4% to 443,000 tonnes including 119,000 tonnes in river segment (-83.4%) and 324,000 tonnes in maritime segment (-24.7%, year-on-year).
