Container throughput of port Hong Kong (China) down 6.9% to 14.52 mln TEUs in Jan-Aug’13
In January-August, 2013, port Hong Kong (China) handled 14.52 mln TEUs (-6.9%, year-on-year). According to the port authority, throughput of the port’s largest terminal Kwai Tsing dropped by 4.1% to 1.25 mln TEUs, other terminals handled 3.28 mln TEUs (-15.2%).
Port Hong Kong is one of the world’s largest ports. It is capable of handling 456,000 vessels per year. In 2012, the port’s container throughput hit 23.1 mln TEUs.
