Namibia to construct new terminal
As part of its expansion programme, the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) wants to expand its container terminal facilities, according to All Africa.
Independent studies indicate that the best way to expand the container terminal is to construct a new facility on reclaimed land within the port limits.
Namport proposes the construction of a new terminal opposite the existing berths of the commercial port on reclaimed land, connected by an access causeway at the southern end, near the Walvis Bay Yacht Club area.
The terminal area will encompass about 1.2 million sq m.
