Mombasa to build new terminal to ease congestion
The Kenyan government will construct a new container terminal at Mombasa to decongest the port and ease cargo movement along the northern corridor, according to All Africa.
The Kenya port authority has secured a Japanese loan to fund the terminal that will have the capacity to handle 1.2 million TEUs.
The terminal should be operational by 2013 and will be done together with the dredging of the port channel to enable the authority to serve fourth generation vessels.
