Vanino Bulker Terminal to reach design capacity of 12 mln t in 2009
Vanino Bulker Terminal (Khabarovsk territory) is expected to reach its design capacity of 12 million tonnes of coal in 2009, PortNews IAA learnt from press center of the company’s owner Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK).
Vanino Bulker Terminal operates from late 2008. It handles coal of SUEK companies in Khabarovsk territory, Buryatiya and Kuzbass, as well as third parties’ coal. When the terminal reaches its full capacity it is to become one of three largest coal terminals in Russia. SUEK says coal export to Asia-Pacific region will increase 1.5 times. The terminal is designed to handle 12 million tonnes of coal with a capacity for expansion to over 20 million tonnes and to handle vessels with cargo capacity of up to 170,000 tonnes. The volume of investments in the project totals RUR 9 bln.
