MISC plans JV with China LNG Shipping
MISC Bhd is initial talks with China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Co to form a joint venture to build and supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessel to transport LNG from Bintulu to Shanghai. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, MISC said the plan would require approvals from the relevant authorities.
MISC was responding to a report that it might partner China LNG to build a tanker costing US$150mil to US$200mil in Shanghai.
It had earlier said earnings from existing and new long-term charters in the LNG and offshore businesses would provide the group with stable earnings in its 2010 financial year.
