DP World achieves top transport safety award for third consecutive year
DP World ’s comprehensive safe driving programme for the thousands of external truck drivers using its flagship Jebel Ali port has won the prestigious Dubai Awards for Sustainable Transport (DAST) for a third successive year, the company said in its press release. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, presented the award to Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, DP World, and Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, in the presence of His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Road Transport Authority.
The 6th edition of DAST, initiated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), was held today (18 February) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. DP World was cited for excellence in enhancing safe truck movements in the port area and for promoting safe driving best practices among the many external truck drivers who use the DP World port.
HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, DP World, said: “Safety at all our ports and marine terminals is a top priority, not just for our own people but also for all those who must come onto our facilities as part of their job. This award is confirmation of the UAE Region’s strong focus on safety and deep commitment to safety programmes for all port users. The DAST Award includes five categories: mobility management, transportation safety, environmental protection, special needs , and school transportation. At its first submission for the Mobility Management category in 2012 , DP World , UAE Region won the a ward for its “Automated Gate System” project in Jebel Ali Port.
