Container finance session at Intermodal Asia 2014

A conference session addressing the current and future economic status for shipping containers will be held during Intermodal Asia 2014, which takes place at the Shanghai World Expo Centre from 1-3 April, the event organizer said in a press release.

Titled 'Container Financing: options and views from a financier', the conference session will be presented by Charles-Hadrien Lassalle, Associate Director Intermodal Finance at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. Singapore, on day three in the Strategy Theatre.

The conference session will look at the current economic situation within the shipping container market and its effects on the financing options for lessors and liners.

"On the back of the recent surge in the liquidity available to the container box leasing industry, the access to cheaper capital has created a more competitive landscape" explains Charles-Hadrien Lassalle. "We are now at a point where the overflow of liquidity exacerbates competition among lessors but also impacts the way the various players fund themselves."

Charles-Hadrien Lassalle will present the different container financing options currently available in today's finance environment to lessors and logistics service providers.

"I expect clients and prospects from the leasing and liner world, but also a number of people from the Asian market who may not yet be familiar with our products and capabilities, to attend this conference session" says Charles-Hadrien Lassalle.

A full programme of informative conference sessions is scheduled to run throughout the three day event, alongside the high profile exhibitors. Sessions will be held in both English and Mandarin and will take place in the Strategy Theatre and the Innovation Theatre.

Intermodal Asia 2014 is organised by Informa Exhibitions (the Intermodal Europe organiser) in joint partnership with the CCIA and will also benefit from the full support of CIMC (China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd.), which is the world's largest container manufacturer and is also the chairman member company of the CCIA.

Additional conference topics will include a container forum, sessions on environmental issues and a container handling technology forum. There will also be sessions looking at port issues for intermodal transport and an intermodal rail freight forum.

"The conference sessions running throughout Intermodal Asia 2014 will bring together the top industry leaders to discuss important container shipping and supply chain topics that affect the market today" says Sophie Ahmed, Event Director, Intermodal Asia.

ABN AMRO is a leading retail, commercial and merchant bank in the Netherlands with global divisions serving international clients in the Energy, Commodities and Transportation (ECT) sector, offering clients customised financial solutions and support throughout the full value chain.

Intermodal Asia 2014 is organised by Informa Exhibitions in joint partnership with China’s leading container association, the CCIA (China Container Industry Association). The event will also benefit from the full support of the world’s largest container manufacturer, CIMC (China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd.), which is the chairman member company of the CCIA.
