In 2013, Zarubino port joined Slavyanka bunkering hub created by Tranzit-DV Group of companies, the Group says in its press release. In March 2014, Tranzit-DV holding company was permitted to start trial bunkering of vessels up to 400 m long with draught up to 16 m in the roads of Zarubino seaport.

Last Thursday, April 10, the first bunkering took place in Zarubino. Tanker “Vladimir Vysotsky” owned by Tranzit-DV bunkered the container carrier “Ital Contessa” (Evergreen Group concern) with 4.5 thousand tons of fuel oil.

Considering significance of this event for Khasansky district and for Primorsky region in general, Tranzit-DV Group of companies organized the welcoming party for the vessel crew. The party was attended by the Head of Zarubino urban settlement Mikhail Tagunov, deputies of the Khasansky district Duma, and the officers of the holding company.

The vessel Master Ewald Thaden has noted the high quality of service during bunkering. He emphasized that he would notify his management about that in his report, and expressed hope for further cooperation.

According to Vice-President of Tranzit-DV Group of companies Sergey Zhidkov, Zarubino port was included into Slavyanka bunkering hub due to necessity of expansion in the number of bunker supply points in connection with increased demand among international freight corporations.

In the words of Sergey Zhidkov, there are plans to add three more anchor points for bunkering to the existing one in Zarubino. In order to ensure fast and high-quality servicing of vessels, the agent office of Tranzit-DV is opening in Zarubino in a day or two.

Expansion of bunkering hub will have a positive impact on the social and economic environment in the area. A call and bunkering of one vessel of “Ital Contessa” type will result in RUR 2 – 2.5 mln. being paid to the budgets of all levels, including the local one. Servicing of vessels improves the employment situation. For instance, due to the hub expansion it is planned to hire two exchange crews for two new vessel servicing tugboats (in total 16 persons).

Finally, calling of such large vessels at ports provide the opportunity for development of businesses engaged in supplying of fresh water, catering, procurement to the vessels, as well as rendering services related to the comfortable rest for crew members while ashore.

The Head of Zarubino urban settlement Mikhail Tagunov pointed that local entrepreneurs were already prepared to supply to the vessels drinking and technical water and a large variety of food products (including agricultural products grown in Primorsky region).

Evergreen Group concern is a Taiwan-based conglomerate of shipping and freight companies and other associated service companies. It ranks among the world’s five largest marine container carriers. “Ital Contessa” is a container carrier, built in 2006, length 335 m, width 42 m, displacement 101 thousand tons. The container carrier came to Zarubino from the USA further bound to the ports of South-East Asia and the Middle East.

Slavyanka bunkering hub was created by Tranzit-DV Group of companies in 2013. As a part of development of the Far Eastern bunkering hub system, the first bunkering was performed in the port of Petropavlovsky-Kamchatsky in March 2014. The plans call for active engagement of the Kamchatka port in the bunkering of vessels proceeding along the Northern Sea Route.
