RORO taking centre stage at the Intermodal Europe Conference

New for 2015 - Intermodal Europe will incorporate 'RORO' bringing the roll-on/roll-off industry together under one roof with the intermodal industry for three days of meeting, learning and essential networking opportunities, the Conference organizers say.

In response to industry feedback, RORO will combine with Intermodal Europe to create an enhanced exhibition experience. “By including RORO within Intermodal Europe this year, the event will not only benefit from more content and speakers, but it also opens the door to a broader spectrum of exhibitors and a wider visitor audience” explains Sophie Ahmed, Event Director. “All in all, this will provide further business opportunities for attendees.”

Intermodal Europe will be hosting a dedicated RORO conference stream during the event, featuring a number of sessions offering an original perspective on the industry's core challenges and trends. The conference will include interactive debates, live panel discussions and a unique opportunity to hear from some of the most influential names in the industry.

    Outlook for the ro-ro market

A session hosted by John Fossey, Consulting Editor at WorldCargo News, will see Mike Garratt, Managing Director at MDS Transmodal, present a session assessing the overall condition of the ro-ro market. Dirk Visser, Senior Shipping Consultant, Managing Editor at DynaLiners & Dynamar B.V., will conduct a session on ‘New routes and future trade map’, looking at winning and losing trade routes and forecasting trade map development from now until 2025. The session will present interesting particulars and analysis on the Deepsea Ro/Ro trades, discussing the two most important segments: “Conventional” Ro/Ro and Vehicle Carriers. “Considering the ever increasing diversity of goods and products that need to be transported,” explains RORO speaker Dirk Visser, “it is increasingly important to continuously catch up with the latest logistical developments - no better place for that than Intermodal Europe”.

    RORO Shippers/Car Carriers Panel

“In today’s transport, where shipping lines and shippers are commanding the major decisions, the challenges and the strengths of road the road transportation leg are sometimes underestimated” explains Vincent Maldague. The panel discussion aims to address the issues faced by those underrepresented in the industry, such as Road Congestion, Mass and Dimensions and waiting tims at the termindals. Speakers include, Stein Van Est, Managing Director at DFDS Seaways Belgium and Holland, Vincent De Saedeleer, Vice-president at Port of Zeebruges and Vincent Maldague, CEO at Macotruck - part of the Herfurth group. The panel will be chaired by Lode Verkinderen, Secretary General at UETR (Road Haulage Association).

    RORO Port Forum

Speakers within the forum include: Erik Ringmaa, Commercial Manager at Port of Tallinn, Jens Nielsen, Commercial Director at Associated British Ports, Michael Berger, Managing Director at Buss Port Logistics GmbH, Oliver Fuhljahn, Head of Automobile Logistics at Cuxport, Rhenus Holdings and Sebastian Jürgens, Managing Director at Port of Lübeck.

    RORO Technology Forum
