Russian Transport Ministry establishes border crossing procedure at sea and river ports

Ministry of Transport of Russia has approved a border crossing procedure scheme for individuals, vehicles, cargoes, goods and animals passing through the sea and river (lake) checkpoints. The order has been registered by the Ministry of Justice (Feb.12th, 2010,#16401), Rosmorport statement said.

The general procedure scheme defines a sequence of major control operations at the sea and river (lake) checkpoints across the country’s border. There are several agencies at border crossing points carrying out passport control, customs clearance, sanitary and veterinary control, traffic control, etc.

In particular, by paragraph 5, the regulatory oversight agencies are directed to minimize the procedures time as well as to prevent unnecessary delay of vehicles, cargo, goods and animals.
