Kiev-based Danube company to build a terminal at Nikolayev until 2011

Danube Shipping and Stevedoring company (Kiev) is going to launch by the end of 2010 a facility for transshipment of general cargo from berths N1 and N 2 of the state-owned Nikolayev Commercial Sea Port (Ukraine). The total estimated project cost is reportedly 229.1 million hryvnia (some $ 28.6 million), “Nikolayev Business News reports. The project means also the acquisition of three new gantry cranes for the new terminal. The projected capacity of the cargo complex has not been specified.

Nikolayev Commercial Sea Port maintains its facilities across 97.3 ha onshore and 224.5 ha of harborage. The port is connected to the sea by Bug-Dnieper-Limansky canal (BDLC) 44 miles in length and 100 m in width. The port operates its 15 berths, the wharf wall of 2.962.2 m.

The Kiev-based Danube Shipping and Stevedoring Ltd. owner is Metninvest BV (The Hague) that holds 75% of stocks. Another 25% are in ownership of the Seaside Terminal Ltd. (Kiev).

The stockholders of Metinvest are Donetsk System Capital Management CJSC of Donetsk (75%), and Smart Holding (25%).
