Vostochny Port targets a 30 percent gain in volumes, 3 million tons this year

Vostochny (East) Port OJSC has projected to increase the volume of transshipped cargo at a Universal product-handling facility (PHF-1) in 2010 to 30% compared with the previous year, up to 3 million tons. The growth rate is said to be achieved through the implementation of the investment program for renovation and modernization of handling equipment, the VP press service said.

The statement said the company would be focused on coal transshipment, as there had been a change in markets for traditional goods supplied earlier by VP complex (round wood, scrap metal, fertilizers, etc.) and demand for coal sharply increased.

For more effective and smooth operation at PHF-1 the stevedoring company purchased in 2009 two Sennebogen 835 wheeled cranes, Giporec R131C, crushing and screening facility, Kalmar forklift of lifting capacity of 33 tons, Komatsu WA470 front-loader, Toyota forklift 62-8FD30 and Kalmar TR6181 truck.

Since early this year Port Vostochny has already purchased two crushing and screening machines Giporec R131C and two belt conveyors T5036, as well as two powerful Sennebogen 870 wheeled cranes. The company said that by end of the year it will have the PHF-1 park replenished by two Komatsu WA470front-loaders, two Toyota FD15 forklifts and Caterpillar crawler bulldozer.

Vostochny (East) Port is the largest stevedoring company in the Far East of Russia, largely transshipping coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s portfolio of assets includes a specialized coal facility complex and a Universal production and handling facility, intended for handling of general and bulk cargoes (such as coal, clinker, coke, iron ore, timber, etc.). Moreover, the port’s facilities allow handling metals, pulp, aluminum, forestry, chemical and long-sized and heavy cargoes. Throughput of Vostochny Port in 2009 declined by 3% compared with 2008, to 14 million 585.800 tons.
