Another oil spill report at Avachinsk Bay Again, now the second recently reported oil spills occurred in the Avachinskaya Bay near the town of Vilyuchinsk of Kamchatka region. The incident came on February 25th. According to the press office of the regional RosPrirodNadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage), the HFO was released into water from a damaged mazut pipeline of the wharf facility. The oil patch has covered the area of 87 sq.m., the RosPrirodNadzor said.
The Natural Resource Agency noted that this water area had been cleared of oil pollution caused by an earlier spill of bunker fuel earlier, on February 6th. That time over 4 tons of F-5 HFO, according to RosPrirodNadzor, contaminated the waters of the bay of Krasheninnikov. The owner of “Slavyanka Bay" (North-East Shipping Company, part of the group Transit-DV) was named accountable for the incident.
