Nippon Yusen to merge NYK Logistics, YASNYK Line said Thursday it will merge its domestic logistics unit in Japan with its freight forwarding subsidiary, Yusen Air & Sea Service, on Oct. 1. The merger will help streamline the group's domestic logistics business, and eventually consolidate its international operations, Japan’s largest shipping company said yesterday after signing a letter of intent. Plans for the merger were announced last November. Post-merger, the NYK subsidiary will change its name to Yusen Logistics Co. The companies’ international logistics operations will be merged gradually from April 2011 through March 2012, Nippon Yusen said. Source: http://www.joc.com
