Volumes of loaded containers at the NCR were up 8.6% last year

The volume of loaded container via the North-Caucasian Railroad (North-Caucasian branch of Russian Railways, RZD OJSC) rose by 8.6 percent as compared with the 2008 numbers, while the volume of 40-foot containers increased by 25%. Loading rate on the range of goods was at 100.7% from the 2008 figures. Overall, the loading of large containers of TransContainer on the North-Caucasian Railroad increased by 10.5% in comparison to the previous year, the NCR press release said.

Last year crises had caused a decline in the number of express container trains from Novorossiysk, delivering spare parts for imported automobiles to Togliatti and Yelabuga. Large factories that assemble the cars reduced their output or temporarily closed. In 2008 there were 73 express trains from Novorossiysk, next year the number dropped to 29, the NCR report said.
