Palmali orders 10 Armada ships at Volgograd Shipyard

A group of companies Palmali (Turkey) has ordered 10 Armada (RST 22) ships to be built at the Volgograd Shipyard (VgS), the PortNews correspondent reports citing Palmali’s Vice President Rauf Aliyev, who spoke at a meeting of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) in Moscow.

Mr. Aliyev also reported for 2009 an increase in shipping traffic via inland Russian waterways by his company, at 3.5 million tons.

Palmali Group of Companies specializes in the transportation of cargo in the Mediterranean, Caspian and Black Seas. The shipping company is a major carrier of crude oil and petroleum products on the rivers of southern Russia. In October 2009, the Palmali signed a contract with the Besiktas Gemi Insaa Anonim Sirketi, Turkey for the construction of the third series of tankers Armada type (some 7.000 DWT).
