Throughput of Russian ports may rise by 15% by 2016

Being implemented the Federal target program "Development of transport system of Russia (2010-2015 years)" will help achieve by 2016 an increase in volumes of goods up to 770 million tons a year by Russian ports.

The program might boost the capacity of Russian seaports by 15%. This could redirect Russia's exports from the ports of neighboring countries to Russian seaports, as well as use these facilities at times of peak loads in the entire transport network of this country.
 
This was announced by Alexander Davydenko, the head of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot), who was speaking today at an enlarged meeting of the Council of Rosmorrechflot in Moscow. To read a Mr. Davidenko’s detailed report see PortNews "Relevant Topic".
