China's January trade value up 44.4pc year on year

China Customs' statistics shows the country gained a trade value of US$204.8 billion in January, rising 44.4 per cent over the same month in the 2009 but down 15.7 per cent compared to December, Logistics Week reported.
Export value increased 21 per cent year on year to $109.5 billion, but fell 16.3 per cent from December. Import value soared 85.5 per cent year on year but dropped 15.1 per cent month to month to $95.3 billion. Trade surplus was $14.2 billion.
After adjustment to eliminate the effect of seasonal factors, China's January trade value was 32.4 per cent up year on year and 3.4 per cent down month on month. Export value increased 14.4 per cent up year on year and decreased 5.5 per cent month on month. Import jumped 61.5 per cent up year on year and dropped 0.9 per cent month on month.
