Russian Seaports Register updates Vostochny port infoIn connection with the commissioning of an oil terminal at the port of Vostochny (East) in Primorsky Territory the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport of the Russian Federation in its January 29th order (№ AD-13-p) approved amendments to the annex to the order of the Agency (November 13, 2009 № AD-227-P) concerning Vostochny seaport in the Register, FSUE Rosmorport statement said.
Earlier reports said that a specialized maritime oil port Kozmino started operating at the port of Vostochny.
Vostochny (East) Port is the largest deep-sea port in the Far East of Russia. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The annual port’s throughput exceeds 18 million tons of cargoes. The VP operates 19 berths 4.7 km in length and depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 m. The port’s portfolio of assets includes one of Russia's largest container terminal and a coal terminal and developed warehousing facilities. The Vostochny Port handles chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and timber cargo. Its deep waters allow 150-dwt vessels calling at the port. Last year, Vostochny Port’s throughput was down 8.14% from the 2008’s figures, at 19 million tons.
