  Wärtsilä launches new online platform for its Encyclopedia of Marine Technology

  

  A new online platform for the popular Wärtsilä Encyclopedia of Marine Technology, formerly known as the Encyclopedia of Ship Technology by Wärtsilä, is being launched. The new site is more user-friendly and has more links to relevant internal and external data than the previous platform. It also has common functionality with the existing wartsila.com website and better connections with social media sites, thereby enabling sharing and more convenient user interaction, the Corporation said Monday in a press release.
  
  The launch of the new online platform is to be announced during the CIMAC World Congress, a forum for the combustion engine industry, which is being held in Helsinki, Finland from June 6 to 10 this year. Wärtsilä is a main sponsor of the event.
  
  The Encyclopedia is part of Wärtsilä’s ongoing industry support programme aimed at helping current and future marine engineers, naval architects, and other industry specialists. It also provides valuable assistance to anyone reviewing the shipbuilding trends that are moving the industry forward. The site provides definitions for current terminology used in the marine industry’s technical vocabulary.

  The second edition of the Encyclopedia was launched in June 2015 at the Nor-Shipping exhibition and conference in Oslo, Norway. The first version was published in 2008, and the rapid development of new technologies led to the need for a second edition.
