Venice, Italy to host 4th GreenPort Cruise Conference / Congress, Oct. 11-14

The 4th GreenPort Cruise Conference and 11th GreenPort Congress will be hosted by Venice Port Authority (VPA) from 11-14 October 2016 at the Marittima Passenger Terminal, Venice, Italy, and will welcome guests from Africa, Asia, North and South America and from across Europe, the event organizer Mercator Media said in a press release.

Delegates will have the opportunity to update themselves on the latest environmental, sustainability and climate change issues and, with the confirmed attendance of members of the port community from as far afield as the Ivory Coast and Malaysia and Guadeloupe, it will also give them the opportunity to meet old friends and make new contacts, not least at the Welcome Reception held on the evening of 11 October.

This year’s Cruise Conference will not only update delegates on the latest innovations in cruise port and infrastructure design, but will also give options for emissions reduction with first hand presentations from operators, classification societies and environmental solutions providers.

In recognition of the importance of the event, participants will hear from the Regional Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Ms Eliza de Berti, who will be giving a keynote address. De Berti will be joined by Kerry Anastassiadis, CEO of Celestyal Cruises, and a member of CLIA Europe’s Executive Committee, and Isabelle Ryckbost, Secretary General, ESPO, who will present the ESPO code of practice for cruise and ferry ports.

This year’s Welcome Reception will offer delegates a valuable opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing with peers from across the World. Hosted by the Venice Port Authority, the standing cocktail reception will take place on the terrace of Hotel Bauer, with beautiful views of Venice's Grand Canal and the famous Chiesa di Santa Maria della Salute.

If that’s not enough, delegates will be treated to a private tour of the Doge’s Palace in St Mark’s Square, organised by Stormwater Italia, after which they will then be able to take a stroll along to the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal for the GreenPort Congress Networking Dinner hosted by Venice Port Authority on 12 October.

Following the two day GreenPort Congress, on 14 October 2016, delegates will be given a tour of the Port of Venice after which they will be free to explore the remaining delights of Venice.
