Murmansk Commercial seaport JSC says it has tested its dust suppression system in winter conditions.
As it was reported earlier, four dust suppression units manufactured by Italian company WLP S.r.l. were put into operation in summer 2015. Then specialist of EIM Engineering, authorized dealer of WLP S.r.l. fitted two units with snow making units for dust suppression in winter conditions.
Representatives of WLP S.r.l. have recently arrived in Murmansk to install ‘winter package’ on the rest of the units.
Assembly and adjustment works have been almost completed. According to specifications, water or snow curtain should efficiently suppress dust at temperatures ranging between ‒30°C and +30°C.
The system allows for reduction of dust concentration by almost a half in the industrial area and at the border of the sanitary protection zone, says the statement.
Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP JSC) was founded in 1994. MMTP operates 17 berths with total length of about 3 km. The waters depths allow the port accommodate vessels with draft of up to 15.5 m and length of over 265 m.
