Cargo traffic of NIBULON up six times against the Soviet period results
At present, NIBULON successfully continues transporting cargoes by inland waterways of Ukraine.
Having studied experience of the world leading countries in using inland water transport, a leader of Ukrainian agrarian market is reviving the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River by its own and redirecting its cargoes to river transport. This is more efficient and environmentally friendly way.
Since the beginning of navigation in 2016, NIBULON has performed more than 150 cargo trips along the Southern Buh River, having transported 300 thousand tons of grain and oilseeds by its own cargo fleet. Thus, the company has broken the best results of the Soviet period in river transportation by 6 times. The maximum grain cargo that was transported along the Southern Buh River at that time comprised 50 thousand tons per year.
The given volume of agricultural commodities was shipped from the company’s transshipment terminals located in Nova Odesa and Voznesensk districts (Mykolaiv region). By the way, despite the fact that the company’s newly built branch in Voznesensk district has started shipping grain recently, it has already shipped more than 100 thousand tons of agricultural commodities.
Thus, more than 11 thousand trucks were removed from the road to Mykolaiv due to NIBULON’s activity.
The company plans to transport up to 2 million tons of cargoes per year along the Southern Buh River (1million tons of grain cargoes, 1 million tons of building materials).
According to NIBULON’s specialists, transportation of 1 million tons of grain along the Southern Buh River will reduce the number of trucks on the highways by more than 42 thousand.
Moreover, one saves 2,5000 tons (70%) of fuel, if one million tons of cargo is transported by water transport, rather than by motor transport; emissions are reduced by 8 200 tons (70%).
It should be noted that in addition to increase of cargo transportation by inland waterways, NIBULON is reviving passenger transportation in Ukraine. As reported earlier, two hydrofoils (Voskhod type) were added to the company’s fleet and have already undergone pre-operating trials. They were named “NIBULON Express”. According to NIBULON’s General Director, Hero of Ukraine, the company plans to revive the infrastructure of the Southern Buh River by spring of the coming year and to start passenger transportation to Nova Odesa and Voznesensk (Mykolaiv region).
