From June 2017, Murmansk Commercial seaport has handled more than 20 heavy-duty equipment units and about 30 accommodation modules intended for construction of the Kola Shipyard. According to the press center of Murmansk Commercial seaport, total weight of the cargo is almost 500 t.

Large dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators and accommodation modules for the personnel are delivered to the port by sea and rail transport. With some units weighing more than 50 t the handling operations are performed by two 40-tonne Condor cranes working in tandem.

Then equipment and accommodation modules are delivered to Belokamenka with NEK JSC as logistics operator. The company has been providing similar services under new oil & gas projects for more than 25 years.

“No wonder, that we have opted for Murmansk Commercial seaport as a partner for cargo handling under the Kola Yard project. High qualification of Murmansk port specialists and availability of convenient railway approaches and high-performance handling equipment allows for implementation of all logistic operations as scheduled”, says Roman Dubov, leading project coordinator at NEK.

Kolskaya Verf (Kola Yard, subsidiary of NOVATEK) earlier embarked on implementation of the project on creation of a center for construction of large capacity offshore facilities at Belokamenka settlement. The center will cover the territory of more than 150 hectares and will feature production facilities for manufacturing of metal structures and processing line modules; two dry docks, unique in their size; a rotational camp. The construction will begin when expert evaluation of the project documentation is completed.

Total value of the project, according to updated information of the company, will make RUB 50 bln. This ambitious project, with its scope of investments and generation of at least 6,500 jobs, has been given the status of a strategic investment project of the Murmansk Region.

Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP JSC) was founded in 1994. MMTP operates 17 berths with total length of about 3 km. The waters depths allow the port accommodate vessels with draft of up to 15.5 m and length of over 265 m.
