Volga Shipping Company named the best in terms of transport security
On September 21, Kaliningrad hosted the ceremony of awarding the winners of the National Award “Russia’s Transport Security - 2018”.
AO Volga Shipping Company (part of UCL Нolding) says it was named the 1st in the following nomination: The best sea/river carrier complying with transport security requirements.
When selecting a winner the Expert Board was, first of all, assessing the nominees’ practical activities in the sphere of transport security, the level of equipment with technical facilities including those of domestic origin, the qualifications of personnel and the availability of solutions allowing to reach the highest level of transport security. The Expert Board included representatives of RF Transport Ministry, Interior Ministry, state organizations and ad hoc associations.
The National Award Ceremony was held in the framework of the Seventh All-Russia Conference “Transport Security and Counterterrorism Technologies – 2018”.
AO Volga Shipping Company is one of the biggest transport companies in Russia. It was founded in 1843. The company transports cargoes along rivers and lakes of the country. In 2017, Volga Shipping Company carried 6.5 million tonnes of cargo.
The Company is a part of VBTH, shipping division of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding, international transportation group consolidating a number of Russian railway, stevedoring and logistic companies (the majority stakeholder of VBTH). The division also comprises North Western Shipping Company, V.F.Tanker and Okskaya Sudoverf shipyard.
The Transport Security Award was established by the Transport Security Association and the Transport Security Fund with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. UCL Holding is a member of the Transport Security Association from 2017.
