PGRK: sales strategy of Pavlovskoye deposit project is focused on foreign markets
The sales strategy of the Pavlovskoye deposit on the Novaya Zemlya is focused on foreign markets, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Aleksandr Lukin, General Director of PGRK, as saying at the “Arctic Projects – Today and Tomorrow” conference held in Arkhangelsk.
In 2023, The First Ore Mining Company (PGRK JSC, a company of Rosatom Corporation) is going to put into operation a lead and zinc concentrate production facility on Novaya Zemlya archipelago. Every year, the facility is supposed to produce 220,000 tonnes of zinc concentrate and 47,000 tonnes of lead concentrate. Each tonne will let produce about 300 g of silver.
The project development is now hindered by absence of a terminal for shipment of the project. According to Aleksandr Lukin, the company counts on state support in this respect.
“The project is included into the state programme on social and economic development of the Arctic zone which foresees state support in construction of port infrastructure. Besides, Rosatom and the Arkhangelsk Region signed an agreement on creation of transport infrastructure and implementation of the Pavlovskoye deposit project”, he said.
PGRK JSC has started engineering survey for the construction of port facilities on the Novaya Zemlya. As the company told IAA PortNews, the terminal will have annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes.
The port is to be built in the Bezymyannaya bay as part of the Pavlovskoye project.
The First Ore Mining Company (PGRK JSC) discovered the deposit in 2001. The Pavlovskoye project is estimated to hold approximately 47.7Mt of ore containing 2.49Mt of zinc, 0.55Mt of lead and 1.2Mt of silver.
