In January 2007, the largest Latvian port – Ventspils – decreased its cargo turnover by 12%, year-on-year – to 2.2 million tons, RZD-Partner reports with reference to the port’s official. In particular, the port handled 1.3 million tons of liquid bulk cargo and 684 thou tons of loose dry cargo. In 2006, the port of Ventspils transshipped 29.1 million tons of cargo and handled 2 124 vessels.
