Specialized Container Complex to start working at CPV in 2008

The development of the terminal infrastructure continues at Commercial Port of Vladivostok (CPV). By the middle of 2008 at the territory of the 15th mooring of CPV one more specialized container complex with carrying capacity 100 thousand TEU a year will start working, the operator of which is LLC "Container Service of Vladivostok" - the subsidiary of LLC "Container Terminal of Vladivostok.""CSV" and "CTV" is a result of joining the efforts of CPV and CC "Severstaltrans." They realize a joint investment program on modernization of 14-15 moorings (including the back zone) into the container terminal of "CSV" with modern and competitive characteristics - the directorate on public relations of OJSC "CPV" reported to RIA PrimaMedia. For Commercial Port of Vladivostok this project will allow to increase specialized production capacity, for CC "Severstaltrans" - to develop its terminal infrastructure. Even today the contract on delivery of two mooring container loaders (STS) and two storage loaders (RMG) with carrying capacity of 50 tons has been made with Shanghai Port Machinery Co. Ltd (ZPMC), the leader in the area of production of specialized equipment for transshipping of containers. The cost of the contract amounts to over 15mln USD. The delivery of unique for the Far East equipment is planned in May of next year. After that the contract on delivery of two more storage loaders (RMG) will be made with Shanghai Port Machinery Co. Ltd (ZPMC).Besides, in the beginning of 2007 three contracts on delivery of equipment for processing of containers were made with Spanish and Finnish producers. In the middle of June "CSV" received three semiautomatic spreaders. The delivery of a reach stacker and a loader for empty containers, two port haulers is planned in July. Two more haulers will be delivered in September of this year. The total volume of investments in the framework of the program of development of the terminal "CSV" will amount to 917,9mln Rubles, including investments in new equipment - 577,4mln Rubles. The directorate of "CSV," and also its shareholders OJSC "CPV" and CC "Severstaltrans" are sure that with growth of container turnover the quality of rendered services are brought to the forefront. Thus, undertaken measures on increase of carrying capacity of the container terminal will become the adequate answer to the vividly expressed tendency to increase of a part of containerized cargoes in total volume of freight flow in the region. The two complexes at the territory of CPV - CTV (the 16th mooring), the 14-15th moorings - together will allow to transship to 600 000 - 700 000 TEU a year.

Realization of the project will allow already in 2008 to increase the carrying capacity of container complexes on the territory of OJSC "CPV" to 260 thousand DFE a year (taking into account the capacity of CTV). It is supposed that measures on increase of carrying capacity will help to provide the necessary intension of processing the vessels, meet the requirements of carriers of cargoes, to reach a worldwide level of quality of containers processing, and will be the answer to the vividly expressed tendency to increase of a part of containerized cargoes in total volume of freight flow in the region.
