Ningbo greets 53-footers that meet US land transit norms
The Port of Ningbo's Gangji terminal recently discharged 250 53-foot containers, Xinhua reported.
This was the first time the port has handled 53-footers (16.15 metres) long, 8.4 feet (2.59 metre) wide and 9.5 feet (2.9 metres) high.
Since 1999, more than 90 per cent of US double-stack rail cars have been designed with a 53-foot well, the lower container slot on the railcar.
