The seaport Vitino is a private port located in the Archangelsk region It was created as a result of a project on construction of a new port terminal complex to provide services for large-capacity tankers while employing the capacities of the White Sea Oil Centre (Belomorskaja Neftebaza), located on the southwest coast of the Kandalaksha Gulf of the White Sea. The project was financed from non-budgetary sources
The port specializes in storage and transshipment of such petroleum as black oil (May - October) and gas condensate (stabilized). Vilino has links with the central part of Russia as well as with the Black, Caspian, Azov and Baltic Seas by both external and internal waterways. On the water area of the seaport Vitino there are four berths, one of which is deep-water and designed for reception of sea tankers, and three berths are for reception of such vessels as ore-oil carriers. One of the berths is used for the Port fleet. The harbour approach is provided with the navigable channel 18 miles long with depths not less than 12.5 meters from LAT (Lowest Astronomical Tide) and the height of tide up to 3 meters. The channel is equipped with five pairs of shore ranges and one navigational mark of circular view. The floating marks, that are 38 beacons, buoy navigational hazards and edges of the channel. The depths in the channel, and also in the water area of the Port, are maintained by means of regular complex hydrographic surveys.
