Azov, Black sea ports should double capacity by 2010 - Ivanov
Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov has set the task to double capacity of ports of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov by 2010, Itar-Tass reports. “At present, seaports of the Azov-Black Sea basin account for over one third of Russia’s cargo flows. This is a rather considerable amount,” he told a meeting of the maritime collegium on Wednesday. “Last year’s total cargo turnover almost doubled as against 2000 and made up 187 million tonnes,” Ivanov said.
“According to conservative forecasts, cargo turnover should exceed 200 million tonnes by 2010, which requires doubling of ports’ capacity,” Ivanov said.
